Farcry version 5
Just wanted to send out a quick congratulations to Geoff and the team at daemon for farcry version 5. I got a demo from the daemon guys of farcry v5 at webDU this year and what I saw made me want to check it out further.
I have used v3 of farcry and I must say I like where v5 has evolved to. I think seperating the CMS and treating it as a plugin was a great move. Also hopefully the slight change in license (from CPL to GPL?) will see the already strong community contribution increase. Fingers crossed Farcry will evolve to something like drupal!
I have been messing round with it over the last week or so and some of the things that have impressed me are:
- the installer is much improved over previous versions.
- implementing custom rules is much, much simpler.
- extjs integration has really made the whole experience more polished.
- Webtop has been cleaned up. Where things sit seems more logical now.
- Can now be used in hosted environments.
Overall great job guys! Look forward to seeing what v6 and CF8 have install ![]()
