ColdFusion, free for educational use

I came across some interesting information today regarding ColdFusion when I stumbled onto Raghunath Rao’s blog. Adobe announced at CFUnited that they have decided to make ColdFusion freely available for educational use (both faculty and students).

With the interest in Rich Internet Applications on the increase, I think this decision is a very smart one from Adobe. A Flex / Air application that communicates with a ColdFusion backend would probably be the most seamless setup for RIAs at the moment. With this decision, institutions can now get their hands on Flex builder 3 and ColdFusion for free.

Fingers crossed this will see an increase in the amount of Flash/Flex/Air/ColdFusion being used and taught at various educational institutions and therefore an increase in the number of available positions for developers ;)
